Dopo aver recensito il suo nuovo album “Älskar”, in uscita per Cooking Vinyl il 2 settembre 2022 (la nostra recensione) abbiamo cercato di conoscere meglio i retroscena di questo capitolo musicale della sua vita, che porterà sul palco anche in Italia il 28 novembre all’Arci Bellezza di Milano.
“Ålskar” è più personale rispetto ai tuoi album precedenti? Voglio dire, sì, è rivolto ad un pubblico e molto piacevole da ascoltare, ma aiutami a capire se nel processo di scrittura l’espressione dei tuoi sentimenti e messaggi è stata più impellente rispetto agli album passati, per toglierti qualche sassolino dalla scarpa pensando agli uomini, all’industria musicale, etc?
Sì, è sicuramente l’album più personale che abbia mai pubblicato, molto ha a che fare con la creazione in lockdown seduta da sola in una stanza, quindi sicuramente mi sento come se avessi pubblicato pagine del mio diario.
Sembra che tu abbia trovato molti modi per rimanere in contatto con i tuoi fan e coinvolgerli. Dopo l’era dei “dischi” e l’era della “televisione”, ora siamo in un’era di “connessione sociale”, in cui il tuo legame con le persone sui social media sembra essere importante quanto la tua musica.
Sì, sento di avere una connessione molto stretta con i miei ascoltatori, penso che sia così bello poter scoprire esattamente chi è un fan della tua musica in questi giorni e dare un po’ “dietro le quinte” sulle canzoni. Adoro chiacchierare con loro e ascoltare quali sono stati i loro testi e spettacoli preferiti.
Siamo di fronte a un’era del metaverso in cui sarai in grado di lasciare i concerti dal vivo al tuo avatar? Hai sperimentato o hai pianificato qualcosa di correlato al metaverso ultimamente?
Sì, sono stata una dei primi artisti a suonare nel metaverso l’anno scorso, al festival Decentraland. Ho avuto modo di indossare la tuta MoCap in una stanza verde e di tracciare i movimenti del viso e del corpo per essere trasformata in un avatar, ed è stata un’esperienza davvero fantastica. Mi piacerebbe fare di più.
Hai scritto molte canzoni per altri artisti. C’è qualche canzone su Ålskar che vorresti sentire interpretata da qualche altro artista? Chi sarebbe un onore o un sogno segreto per te?
Penso che la mia canzone “Teenage Chemistry” potrebbe essere sentita in molti modi diversi, ho idea che possa essere un remix davvero interessante, ma non sono sicura di chi potrebbe farlo.
Ho avuto la sensazione di parlare con un’amica quando ascoltavo “Heirlooms” … Come può un’artista creare un legame emotivo così forte con un ascoltatore da fargli capire cosa sta succedendo nella sua vita?
Scrivere canzoni è una forma di terapia per me e mi piace documentare le cose che sento nella vita. Penso che sia davvero bello guardare indietro e vedere fino a che punto sei arrivata, è quasi come rileggere il tuo vecchio diario.

After reviewing her new album “Älskar”, out for Cooking Vinyl on September, 2 (here our review) we tried to know more about the background of this musical chapter of her life, that she is taking on stage in Italy too on November, 28 at Arci Bellezza, Milan.
Is “Ålskar” more personal for Nina than your previous albums? I mean, yes, it’s aimed to an audience and very pleasant to listen, but help me understanding if in the writing process the expression of your feelings and messages have been more urgent than in past albums, to remove some pebbles from your shoe thinking of guys, music industry, etc?
Yes it’s definitely the most personal album I’ve released yet, a lot of it has to do with creating it in lock down while I was sat alone in a room so it definitely feels like releasing pages of my diary.
You seem to have found many ways to stay connected with your fans and involve them. After the “records” era and the “television” era, now we are in a “social connection” era, when your bond with people on social media seems to be as important as your music.
Yes, I feel like I have a very close connection to my listeners, I think it’s so cool you can find out exactly who is a fan of your music these days and give a bit of back story behind the songs. I love chatting with them and hearing what their favourite lyrics and shows have been.
Are we facing a “metaverse” era when you will be able to let live acts to your avatar? Did you experience or did you plan anything metaverse-related lately?
Yes, I was one of the first artists to play in the metaverse last year, at the Decentraland festival. I got to wear the MoCap suit in a green room and have my face and body movements tracked in order to be turned into an avatar which was so such a cool experience. I’d love to do more.
You wrote a lot of songs for other artists. Is there any song on Ålskar that you would like to hear interpreted from some other artist? Who would be a honour or a secret dream for you?
I think my song “Teenage Chemistry” could be heard in a lot of different ways I have this idea for it to be a really cool remix, but I’m not sure who would do it.
I had a feeling like talking to a friend when listening to “Heirlooms” … How can one artist create such an emotional bond with a listener to let him/her understand what’s going on in her life?
Song writing is a form of therapy for me and I like to document the things I’m feeling in life. I think it’s really cool to look back and see how far you have come, it’s almost like looking back and reading your old diary.
